1956 Chevy Short-bed Project Underway: $5000.00 I purchased the truck while in the Navy in 1973. It has lived outdoors since so has rust in the usual places. It needs an owner who wants to spend time and money on a true project. An owner with a welder and experience welding sheet metal would be this truck's best friend. The body and frame are straight and relatively tight in the right places. There are a multitude of sheet metal parts available on-line to repair or replace all rusted areas. I have rebuilt the motor which is a 1962 283 V-8 that is now bored to 292. It has a Holley 2-barrel but I have the original Rochester 2-barrel handy. The belt pulley system has been rebuilt with Zoops parts. It was running fine until I ripped out the wiring. There are probably only about 250 miles on the engine. The Flowmaster mufflers sound great dumping right in front of the rear wheels. It has an Oldsmobile Rocket tilt-away steering post and wheel hooked to a Saginaw power steering unit bolted into the modified frame. Front leafs are new Eatons and are 1 lower. Rear leafs are new, 2 lowered, but not installed. I started replacing the wiring with a complete Autowire kit for 1956-59 Chevy trucks. It has enough circuits for any electrical you could possibly want (21 circuits). I have an electric wiper system, blue-dot taillights, chrome eyes for the headlights, and other parts to be included in the purchase. Tires are practically new and sit on 7 chrome/painted rims. The seat is original but would need new upholstery. It has a 3-speed manual on the floor. I had the cab piece over the windshield fabricated by a local artisan and a new windshield added. The frame is solid and straight. I even have a set of clutch-head drivers and a complete set of manuals including the original owner's manual!
