Hi -

I am arriving on Orcas Island this Sunday, and hope to camp by the ocean.  What campsites would you recommend?  Contact info would be great, if you have it.

Thanks,
Bill

As mentioned in my previous post, I am flying in this Sunday from Seattle on Kenmore Air and need a recommendation on the best place to land.  I have hopes of camping and kayaking all around the island, but unfortunately have no clue where to begin.

Any guidance is much appreciated.

Thanks for posting on the message board...

This page lists all of the places to camp on Orcas Island . It might be a little bit late to get a campsite at Moran State Park... reservations should be made early on in the year to guarantee a campsite. Obstruction Pass State Park however has first-come first-served campsites.  I'm not sure how busy these will be during the summertime.  Several other outer islands are also part of the Cascadia Marine Trail and have primitive campsites with toilets, tables, and fire pits.  These islands are not served by the Washington State ferry so you will need some sort of boat to get there.

If you are flying into Orcas Island you have the choice of landing at Deer Harbor, Eastsound Village, Westsound, or Rosario Resort.  Orcas Island has several villages, attractions, and things to do.... so it is important to have transportation.... you could rent a car from one of the island companies and have it waiting for you at whichever location you choose.

There are several companies that offer kayaking on Orcas Island ... maybe check out trip advisor to see which one has the best rating currently.

If you remember please check back in and let us in on your trip went.
