First trip.  What is the best month for warm weather and flowers?  What is the most inhabited island and which is the least?  Can you drive a car everywhere?  Are there crowds of people in the summer if you have your own car to drive around or is it mostly pedestrians off the ferry for the day?  Thanks for your help.

For warm weather and flowers you cannot go wrong during June and July or August. Shaw Island is the least populated (  about two hundred thirty five people year-round  ) and San Juan Island is the most populated with a year-round population of approximately 6500 residents. Orcas Island has around 4500 year-round residents. Lopez Island has less than 2500 year-round residents.

Shaw Island, San Juan Island, Orcas Island, and Lopez Island are the only islands in the San Juan Islands which are served by the Washington State ferry system.  You can drive your car onto the State ferry and get off at any of the islands or you can leave your car in Anacortes and walk on the State ferry or bring your bicycle.  Each of the islands has scenic sealed roads providing access to state parks, county parks, small villages, marinas, and beaches.

Some weekends in the summertime can get crowded at certain spots however there is always some more interesting and uncrowded to go to.
